Privacy Policy

Daksh is a study application operated by Ceramic Academy for its enrolled students, mentors, and administrators. This policy explains what the app collects, why, and what you can do about it. It is not a general-purpose consumer service: accounts are created by students of the institute and activated by Ceramic Academy staff.
Information we collect
Account information
When you register, we collect your name and email address. Authentication is handled by Google Firebase Authentication; on Android you may sign in with a Google account, in which case Google supplies your name and email to us. We never receive or store your password.
Profile information you choose to add
- A profile photo, if you upload one.
- A contact phone number, if you enter one. This is optional, is never verified by SMS or one-time password, and is used only as a contact detail for the institute. It is never used to sign you in.
- Your favourite subjects, used to order your study screen.
Study activity
Daksh records the study sessions you complete: the subject, start and end time, duration, and whether the session was a stopwatch or Pomodoro session. It also stores tasks, calendar events, and day-off markers that you create. Daily, weekly, and monthly totals are derived from these sessions and are used to build leaderboards visible to other students in your group.
Group content
Messages you post in group chat, files you attach, and assignment submissions you upload are stored and visible to the members and mentors of that group, and to Ceramic Academy administrators.
Device notification tokens
If you enable notifications, we store a token identifying your device so we can deliver push notifications about mentor updates and assignments.
Mentor feedback
Ratings and comments you submit about a mentor are stored separately from the aggregated results. Mentors and administrators see averaged scores and unattributed comments; they are not shown which student submitted which response.
App usage access on Android
Daksh offers an optional focus mode that shows a reminder overlay when you open an app you have not allowed during a study session. To do this, Android requires the Usage Access and Display over other apps permissions.
This information is processed entirely on your device and is never transmitted to us or to anyone else. We do not collect, store, or receive a list of the apps you use. The only thing recorded against a study session is whether focus mode was active. Both permissions are optional — if you decline them, the app records study time normally and simply does not show the overlay.
How we use this information
- To create and administer your account and group enrollment.
- To record your study activity and show your own statistics.
- To display group leaderboards and live study presence to other members of your group.
- To deliver group content, assignments, mentor updates, and notifications.
- To let Ceramic Academy mentors review your submissions.
We do not sell your information, use it for advertising, or share it with third parties for their own purposes.
Where your information is stored
Daksh is built on Google Firebase. Your data is held in Google Cloud infrastructure, primarily in Google's India regions, and is subject to Google's security practices as our data processor. Access is restricted by server-enforced security rules: students can read their own records and the group content they are enrolled in, and nothing else.
Who can see your information
| Information | Visible to |
|---|---|
| Name and profile photo | Members and mentors of your groups; administrators |
| Email and phone number | Ceramic Academy administrators only |
| Daily study totals | Members of your group, through leaderboards and live presence |
| Individual study sessions and tasks | You and Ceramic Academy administrators |
| Chat messages and assignment submissions | Your group, its mentors, and administrators |
| Mentor feedback you submit | Shown to mentors and administrators without your identity attached |
Retention
We keep your information for as long as your account is active with Ceramic Academy. If your account is deactivated, records are retained for the institute's academic and administrative purposes unless you request deletion.
Your rights
You can edit your name, photo, phone number, and favourite subjects at any time from the Profile screen in the app, and you can delete your own chat messages. To request a copy of your data, correction of information you cannot edit yourself, or deletion of your account, see Account & Data Deletion or write to us at the address below.
Children
Daksh is provided to students enrolled with Ceramic Academy. Where a student is a minor under applicable law, the account is expected to be created and used with the consent of a parent or guardian. If you believe a child's information has been provided without such consent, contact us and we will remove it.
Changes to this policy
If we change what we collect or how we use it, we will update this page and revise the date at the top.
